Old Age

Written by Mmokutimabasi Uttah

Do our elders really see

What we  climb trees

And hope to see

While in their seats?

Are there truly stories

Housed in the wrinkles on their body?

Lining their skins

Like the veins on hibiscus.

Does peace sit

In the fingers that beat a rhythm

On their thinned laps.

Or am I just in a hurry to age?
