Written by Ibrahim Olawale
Your shadow is heavy upon me, Iblis,
you come as thoughts that haunt my mind.
It’s the thick of the night and my eyes are hollow,
sleep departs from me and I mellow my mind with pills.
Tell me, is my memory a prison caging a host of daemons?
Why do my dreams make me seek escape away from my head?
I fill my tongue with Psalms, and my fingers get busy with the rosary.
I hope these prayers buy me sleep,
I hope the rosary ferry me to peace.
